What to do if Police Come to your Door
|
Below are instructions on what to do if police or ICE agents come to your door.
- Stop and think when someone comes to your door
In most cases you are not required to open the door to anyone. Immigration and the police need a
warrant signed by a judge to enter your home.
Take notes about the raid and what is happening. Use personal devices such as cell phones to take
photos. Do not run away.
You have the right to remain silent. Immigration or the police can use anything you say against you.
- Ask to speak to your attorney
Do not sign anything without your attorney. Do not sign forms you do not understand or forms you
do not want to sign. Your attorney may be able to help you fight your case. If you do not have a
lawyer, speak with one immediately. They will inform you of all your available options.
The attorneys of Azucena Valencia Law can assist you, your family and friends with any immigration related
matter including deportation defence. Contact us immediately if you have any concerns.
